Our Training Principles

Joyful Dogs are firm believers that positive reinforcement gets results. That is, we do not punish or use aversives (such as Ecollars) on your dog.  Instead, we’ll show you how to teach your dog to choose the correct behaviour in a given situation, as well as how to prevent your dog practising undesirable behaviour.  

Kathy Sdao (dog training guru) cites a lovely example: “Each morning my friend lays out two outfits on her daughters bed, then asks her daughter which outfit she’d like to wear to Nursery that day.  The daughter chooses between acceptable options rather than unacceptable ones.”  It’s the same with your dog.
